The snow was blowing in flurries when I took this shot on Wednesday morning.
I am divided in my opinion of this picture. On the one hand, it does have large areas of uniformity such as in the sky, the parking lot and the grass. In addition to this, the colours are not particularly saturated and there is no individual subject which stands out.
On the other hand, the composition does kind of obey the rule of thirds. Also, there are actually six lines dividing the image in a generally horizontal fashion. The line between the grass and the parking lot is not horizontal which creates an interesting effect as well and leads the viewers eye from right to left because the distance between the lines appears to narrow like a funnel.
My general conclusion here is that the shot may be acceptable because although the subject matter is not particularly interesting, the composition of the horizontal lines is. The effect is almost like abstract art.
