I visited New York City for the first time over the weekend. It was really amazing to be in such a famous place and see so many of the famous landmarks. Unfortunately the weather was terribly: rain and low cloud. The shot above was taken in Battery Park where we decided not to take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Statton Island because the weather was so bad.
My hotel was on 42nd street and I walked past the Chrysler building to get to Times Square. This building was also very pretty when lit up at night. I was too tired on both of the nights I was there to go out and take a night shot though. Maybe next time.
I am pleased with this shot of a seagul. It is nice and sharp and I believe that the compostition encourages the viewers eye to follow the shape of the birds body and out to where its eyes are looking.
This shot of the Brooklyn Bridge leads the viewers eye from right to left. Unnatural, yes, but i think that it makes one think twice about the shot. It is also a fairly accurate portrayal of the mood of the weather.
